2012 || INDOOR: Chen completed his first collegiate heptathlon at the Razorback Invitational where he totaled 5,122 points and a 14th-place finish. During the seven-event competition, he set a personal best in the long jump with a final mark of 23-8. Chen opened the season with personal-best efforts of 8.45 in the 60-meter hurdles and 47-2.25 in the shot put at the Arkansas-Texas Dual meet. OUTDOOR: Chen capped his collegiate season with a sixth-place finish in the decathlon at the SEC Championships. On his way to 6,709 points at the conference meet, he established personal bests in the 400 meters, 1,500 meters and long jump. Chen’s personal-best decathlon score of 6,954 was posted at the Mt. SAC Relays.

2011 || Chen redshirted the indoor and outdoor seasons.

AT BERKELEY PREP: Auston Chen holds personal bests of 6,473 in the decathlon and 174-3 in the discus. He competed in the AAU Junior Olympics, the USATF Junior Olympics and the USATF World Youth Trials. Chen finished third at the 2009 Florida State Championships in the discus (171-0). He also holds his high school's records in the discus (171-0) and the shot put (48-5.5).

PERSONAL: Born March 7, 1992, he is the son of Jim and Julia Chen. He plans to major in business economics.
