RIO GRANDE, Puerto Rico – University of Arkansas sophomore Emily Tubert fired a second round two-under 70 and is in fourth place after second round action at the 10th Annual Lady Puerto Rico Classic in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico, Monday.

Tubert paced the Razorbacks into a tie for third with a second-day 293 for 590 (297-293).

“Emily did a great job today,” Arkansas head coach Shauna Estes-Taylor said.  “It was another solid round.”

The Burbank, Calif., native opened her round on hole 1B with a double but rallied with birdies on four and six to turn even.  She picked up three more birdies on 10, 15 and 18 along with a bogey on 17 to finish two under.  She is fourth overall with rounds of 71-70=141 and just one stroke back of the leaders.

Sophomore Emma Lavy is tied for eighth overall after a second-round one-under 71 (75-71=146).  Lavy had four birdies and three bogeys in a very steady round.

“Emma was awesome today,” Estes-Taylor said.  “She made it look easy today.”

Meagan Roberts finished with a second-day 74 (83-74=157) and is tied for 50th overall.  Her comeback from the first round helped the Razorbacks maintain one of the top spots on the leaderboard.

“I can’t say enough about Meagan’s performance,” Estes-Taylor said.  “She committed to the things we have been working on and it showed in her performance today.   I’m proud to see her improve from day one.”

Emily Podzielinski is tied for 33rd overall with 153 (75-78) followed by junior Victoria Vela who is tied for 45th with 156 (76-80).

“We are right where we want to be,” Estes-Taylor said.  “We are a couple back from the lead and this group is hungry and ready to go.  It is supposed to be rainy tomorrow but that favors us.  We have a chance to move up the leaderboard and that’s exactly where we want to be.”

Eleventh-ranked Georgia continues to lead the field with a 585 (294-291).  Tenth-ranked LSU is second with 586, followed by No. 7 Oklahoma State and No. 45 Arkansas tied for third.  The top 10 includes No. 28 Texas Tech in fifth with 594, No. 31 Purdue with 596, No. 20 North Carolina State with 598, No. 36 Northwestern with 602, SMU with 611 and No. 38 Iowa State and No. 40 Kent State are tied for 10th with 614.

Play concludes Tuesday.
