Fresh off a very good win on Saturday afternoon, the University of Arkansas basketball team remains at Bud Walton Arena on Thursday, Feb. 21, to face the Georgia Bulldogs, at 6 p.m., in a game televised by ESPN2.Arkansas (16-9, 7-5 SEC) picked up another quality win when it took down the Missouri Tigers, bolstering the Razorbacks’ post season resume.  The Hogs are 3-3 against teams in the top 50 of the latest RPI and are the only team in the SEC to take down the Florida Gators in league action.

Junior Marshawn Powell was named the SEC Player of the Week after he averaged 22 points and 5.5 rebounds in Arkansas’ wins at Auburn and home against Missouri. The Newport News, Va., native has moved into 24th on Arkansas’ all-time scoring list and became just the third player in Razorback history to earn an SEC Freshman of the Week and Player of the Week honor in his career.  Of course, no person can do it by himself and Powell got help from sophomore BJ Young who averaged 21.5 points per game last week which included a pair of and-ones in the closing moments of the Missouri game.

Georgia (12-13, 6-6 SEC) is playing some of its best basketball of the season of late despite a pair of losses entering the game on Thursday night.  The Bulldogs are an impressive 3-3 on the road in SEC games this year with victories over Tennessee, South Carolina and Texas A&M and a near win over Ole Miss on the road in overtime.  Led by sophomore guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Georgia relies heavily on the 6-5 guard for scoring and rebounding as his 17.7 points and 6.6 rebounds lead the team.  Plaguing the Bulldogs throughout the season has been their turnovers as they give the ball up more than 15 times per game and just two players on the roster have a positive assist-turnover ratio.

Arkansas leads the all-time series between the two programs, 16-13, but the Bulldogs have had the best of the series lately, winning six of the last eight games including the last three and their last trip to Bud Walton Arena.  The Razorbacks are 7-3 all-time at home against the Bulldogs with six of those wins coming at Bud Walton Arena.

The Razorback game against Georgia will be broadcast on the radio across the Razorback Sports Network from IMG College with Chuck Barrett and Rick Schaeffer giving the call.  The game will also be carried live on ESPN with Rece Davis and Bob Knight on air.
