Action At Southern Collegiate Championships Ends For Arkansas

ATHENS, Ga. – Action for the members of the Arkansas men’s tennis team came to an end on Sunday at the 2017 Southern Intercollegiate Championships in Athens, Georgia.

In the consolation Division I bracket, Josh Howard-Tripp retired, while being down to Rodrigo Magalhaes of Radford 5-4. Also in a consolation bracket, Alex Reco defeated Juan Lugo 7-6, 6-7, 10-4 of East Tennessee State. After losing his first collegiate match on Friday, Reco wraps up the weekend winning each of his last two to go 2-1 in Athens.

In the Division II quarterfinals, Jose Alonzo fell to UNC Ashville’s Oli Nolan 3-6, 7-5, 7-6 (11) in a hard fought battle to drop to 2-1 on the weekend, after winning his first two collegiate matches.

Up next for the Razorbacks is the Milwaukee Tennis Classic on Sept. 20-24 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
