Allen Named Manning Award Quarterback of the Week

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – University of Arkansas quarterback Brandon Allen has been selected as the Manning Award Quarterback of the Week, the Allstate Sugar Bowl announced Friday. He earned the honor over seven other Manning Award Stars of the Week in a Facebook fan vote.

Allen posted the best game of his career in the season opener against UTEP, completing 14 of 18 passes for a career-high 308 yards and four touchdowns. He became just the second Razorback ever to throw for four touchdowns in a half and he had the highest quarterback rating (99.6) in the nation last week. Allen enters the Toledo game with a streak of 108 consecutive passes without throwing an interception.

The Manning Award is given annually to the nation’s top quarterback. The winner will be announced following the College Football Playoff National Championship game on Monday, Jan. 11.

The Razorbacks will host Toledo on Saturday, Sept. 12 at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock, Arkansas. Kickoff is slated for 3 p.m. and the game will be televised on SEC Network Alternate and WatchESPN.com.
