Alyssa Allison honored by the SEC

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas Razorback freshman Alyssa Allison, a member of the women’s cross country team, has been named the Southeastern Conference Freshman Runner of the Week, it was announced by the conference office on Tuesday.

"Alyssa is a great racer and a tough competitor," head coach Lance Harter said. "She has been consistent and is improving each week."

Allison had another stellar showing at the Missouri Southern Stampede on Saturday. She earned a runner-up finish with a 5K time of 17:30.59 and was the top freshman finisher. Her 5K time is No. 4 on the SEC list and first among freshman runners. Allison has finished in the top six in both races this season.

The Razorbacks picked up their second team title of the season at the Missouri Southern Stampede. Arkansas scored five runners in the top seven, seven in the top 13 and all nine finishers in the top 40. The Razorbacks cut the time between the first finisher and the fifth by 17 seconds with a spread of 50 seconds at the Arkansas Invitational and 33 seconds at the MSSU Stampede.
