Andrew Dahl Named First-Team All-SEC

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Junior golfer Andrew Dahl, was named first-team All-Southeastern Conference, as announced by the league office Monday. The Salinas, Calif., native became the first Razorback to earn the honor under the coaching of Mike Ketcham and only the sixth since Arkansas joined the conference.
Joining Dahl on the squad is Brett Stegmaier, Florida; Brandt Snedeker, Vanderbilt; Kevin Kisner, Georgia; James Vargas, Florida; David Skinns, Tennessee; Eirik Johansen, South Carolina and John Humphries, LSU.
“This is a great honor for Andrew and I’m very proud of him,” Arkansas head coach Mike Ketcham said. “It’s well-deserving based on the year he has had. I know bigger and better things are ahead for Andrew and the team. We’re looking forward to competing in the next two weeks at regionals.”
Dahl has had an outstanding fall and spring campaign and continues to lead the Hogs with a low stroke average of 71.3. In the Golfweek/Sagarin Men’s Individual Rankings Dahl is the highest ranked Razorback at No. 26, and is fourth among nationally ranked SEC golfers.
So far, Dahl has competed in 10 tournaments and posted two tournament victories, including seven top 10 finishes. He claimed his first tourney victory at the Stonebridge Invitational on October 22, with a seven-under-par 209 (71-68-70).
On March 19, Dahl was named SEC Golfer of the Week after he helped propel Arkansas to their first tournament victory in five years at the Coastal Carolina Invitational in Myrtle Beach, S.C., on March 11. He came in second with a two-under-par 214 (72-72-70).
Less than a month later he shot a career-best 65 in the first round of the Border Olympics while capturing the tournament title and earned another SEC Golfer of the Week honor.
Most recently at the SEC Championships on April 27, he tied for fifth place with a tournament score of 214 (+4) and became the first Razorback to finish in the top five of the SEC Championships since Tag Ridings tied for fifth place in 1997. With his finish Dahl has now tallied back-to-back top-15 finishes at the league tournament after placing 11th last year.
Dahl and the 19th ranked Arkansas golf team will play in The Maxwell in Ardmore, Okla., on May 9-11, before they try to earn a spot on the national tournament at the NCAA Regional Championships on May 15-17.
