BY ANDRES FOCIL
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – After helping lead Arkansas to their first tournament victory in five years at the Coastal Carolina Invitational in Myrtle Beach, S.C., on March 11, junior Andrew Dahl was named the Southeastern Conference Golfer of the Week as announced by the conference office on Tuesday.
“This is a great honor for Andrew,” Arkansas head coach Mike Ketcham said. “I’m very proud of him. I don’t think a lot of people realize how far he has come in a year and continues to get better, not only as a golfer, but as a person. He has a very bright future.”
Dahl, a native of Salinas, Calif., posted his fourth top 10 tournament finish at the Coastal Carolina tourney when he came in second with a two-under-par 214 (72-72-70). Most recently at the Morris Williams Intercollegiate on Tuesday Dahl shot a career-best round of 66 in the first round. He finished in a tie for third with an eight-under-par 208 (66-71-71), making it his fifth top 10 finish for the year.
In the Golfweek/Sagarin Men’s Individual Rankings Dahl is the highest ranked Razorback at No. 42, and is eighth among nationally ranked SEC golfers.
Dahl and the Hogs will enjoy a week off for spring break before they travel to the Border Olympics in Laredo, Texas on April 3-5.
