FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas junior offensive tackle Shawn Andrews and senior tailback Cedric Cobbs have been named to SI.com’s Midseason All-America Team.
The squad, selected by SI.com’s college football writers, recognizes players that have distinguished themselves in the first half of the college football season. Arkansas joined Georgia, Miami, Nebraska and Oklahoma as the only teams with multiple players on the All-America list.
“I’m proud that Shawn and Cedric have been recognized for what they have done for our football team so far this season,” Arkansas head coach Houston Nutt said. “Our offensive line has done an excellent job in creating some running room for Cedric and the rest of the backs. In return, Cedric has done a good job of finding the gaps and running hard. I’m confident that Shawn and Cedric will continue to work hard and carry the same focus the rest of the way.”
Andrews, an Outland and Lombardi Award candidate, has racked up 51 knockdown blocks this season helping the Razorbacks to a 4-1 start. Arkansas, ranked No. 11 in the nation, leads the Southeastern Conference and ranks seventh in the country in rushing offense with an average of 232.8 yards per game.
Cobbs is leading the SEC in rushing and ranks fourth in the nation averaging 128.0 yards per game. He tallied four-consecutive 100-yard rushing games to open the season becoming the first since UA back since Jerry Eckwood in 1975 to accomplish that feat. Cobbs is also the leading active career rusher in the SEC with 2,338 yards.
