BY ANDRES FOCIL
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas baseball team added junior college transfer Tory Davis to its list of signees for the early fall recruiting period Razorback head coach Norm DeBriyn announced Tuesday.
Davis brings the total of early signees to nine for the Razorbacks.
A right-handed outfielder, Davis spent the 2001 season with Yuba Junior College in Yuba, Calif. Davis was a Bay Valley First Team All-Conference selection, led the league in runs batted in, finished second in the conference in home runs and was the runner-up for the conference’s most valuable player award.
Davis hit .453 last season at Yuba and set the school record for RBI in a season with 57. Davis also did not commit an error is 40 games last season.
A native of Roseville, Calif., Davis played for Woodcreek High School where he was a first team all-state selection.
“We are happy to have Tory join the Razorback program,” DeBriyn said. “We are looking forward to him joining the team and we think he will be a good fit with our style of play.”
The Razorback baseball team opens the 2002 season Feb. 10 at Baum Stadium against Missouri Southern.
