Time Change for Illinois-Chicago
The Saturday, March 13, game against Illinois-Chicago has been moved to a 12:05 p.m. start time to avoid conflict with the NCAA Indoor Track Championships. The game was scheduled to begin at 2:05 p.m.
Goodwin Out 3-4 Weeks
Junior 3B/1B Clay Goodwin will be sidelined three to four weeks after having surgery to repair the hook of the hamate bone in his right hand. Goodwin injured the hand while checking a swing in Arkansas’ 9-7 loss to Texas A&M Feb. 29. Goodwin is scheduled to have the stitches removed from the surgery next Monday and will be reevaluated.
The last five games have been rough on the Razorbacks. Arkansas is 2-3 in those games and have made 18 errors (.913 fielding percentage). The Razorbacks are hitting just .248 in that stretch with only nine extra base hits (eight doubles, one home run). The Razorbacks have posted a .394 on-base percentage in those five games and have whiffed 37 times.
Despite having a 1.59 ERA in four starts, LHP Clint Brannon doesn’t have the record to back it up. Brannon is 0-1 with three no decisions. One reason has been the errors committed by the Razorbacks. In Brannon’s four starts the Hogs have made 13 errors (.920 fielding percentage) which have led to 13 unearned runs. In his 17.0 IP Brannon has yielded 13 runs with only three of those earned. Brannon has also struck out 12 batters and held opponents to a .250 batting average. Arkansas is 2-2 in Brannon’s four starts.
