Arkansas Continues To Work Young Players Durin

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The eighth-ranked Arkansas Razorbacks ended Wednesday’s practice session with a brief scrimmage featuring redshirt freshmen, freshmen and sophomores which included a spirited goal line drill.
Arkansas head coach Houston Nutt noted the progress of several underclassmen during Wednesday’s workout.
“We scrimmaged the younger guys for the second day in a row,” Nutt said. “We are looking at James Johnson on the offensive side of the ball. Anthony Gray, Chris Houston, Kevin Woods and Jayson Johnson all did a good job today.
Nutt also saw progress with the offense during the scrimmage.
“Robert Felton and Tyler Morgan are doing a good job of blocking on the offensive line,” Nutt added. “Johnny Johnson, Farod Jackson and Radale Pearson continue to get better as well.
“At quarterback, Landon Leach and Robert Johnson do a good job of getting us out of the huddle and on the line of scrimmage. They do things they you take for granted. It’s easy to see why they won so many games in high school. They are leaders and they are only going to get better.”
As for upperclassmen, Nutt said the Razorbacks worked on fundamentals and technique during the hour and a half practice.
“Our older guys had a good practice today,” Nutt said. “We worked hard on our fundamentals. We also put a lot of work in on our kick returns. We’re going to work on punt returns tomorrow. We feel like that is one area that can give us some points. We’re real close on it, but we are just missing a few blocks here and there and we need to work on that. Marvin Jackson is too good a punt returner not be able to give us better field position.”
Arkansas will practice again Thursday before taking Friday and Saturday off. The Hogs will return to the practice fields Sunday in preparation for next Saturday’s game against the Auburn Tigers. That game will begin at 11:30 a.m. and will be televised by Jefferson Pilot.
