Arkansas Leads The Way In SEC Academic Honorees

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – For the second straight year the Arkansas football program has posted the most student-athletes on the Fall SEC Academic Honor Roll that was released Wednesday by SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey. An SEC-leading 39 Razorbacks landed on the honor roll, which recognizes student-athletes with a 3.0 cumulative GPA or 3.0 GPA or higher for the preceding academic year.

The 39 honorees are the second-most by an SEC program since coach Bielema took over in 2013, falling one short of Arkansas’ 40 last year.

Arkansas has finished fifth, second, first and first in number of Fall SEC Academic Honor Roll selections over Bielema’s four years. The Razorbacks have had a league-best 139 student-athletes make the Fall SEC Academic Honor Roll over the last four years, good for 12 more than the next closest program.

A total of 21 Razorbacks also donned the SEC graduate patch during the Belk Bowl, which marked the fourth-most graduates on one team playing in a bowl game this year. One of the players wearing the SEC graduate patch against Virginia Tech was senior linebacker Brooks Ellis, who was named the SEC Scholar Athlete of the Year and also became the first two-time Academic All-American in program history.
