Arkansas Plays LSU In First Round Of SEC Tourn

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas Razorbacks will face Southeastern Conference champion LSU in the first round of the SEC Tournament on Wednesday, May 21, at the Hoover Met in Hoover, Ala.
Arkansas (34-18, 14-16) enters the tournament as the eighth seed. Alabama and Vanderbilt each tied Arkansas with a 14-16 league record. Arkansas owns the tie-breaker over Vanderbilt by taking two of three games this season.
Alabama owns the tie-breaker against the Razorbacks after sweeping the Hogs in Tuscaloosa. Since Alabama and Vanderbilt did not play in the regular season, the tie-breaker is decided by their season record against the No. 1 seed, LSU. The Commodores won two of three games against LSU, while Alabama lost two of three.
By those guidelines, Vanderbilt is the sixth seed and Alabama the seventh seed in the tournament.
Arkansas and top-seeded LSU will meet in the last game of the day Wednesday, scheduled for 8 p.m. CT. The winner of that game will play at 8 p.m. Thursday, with the loser playing at 1 p.m.
The final seedings to the SEC Tournament will be determined following the Ole Miss vs. Auburn game which was delayed by heavy rains Sunday afternoon.
The Razorbacks are 12-15 all-time in SEC Tournament play. Arkansas is making its second straight tournament appearance. The Hogs went 1-2 last season with both losses coming against South Carolina.
Arkansas and LSU have met six times in the SEC Tournament, with the Tigers holding a 4-2 record against the Razorbacks.
All Wednesday and Thursday games will be televised live by Comcast/Charter Sports Southeast. CSS will also carry the two late games on Saturday if they are necessary.
SEC-TV (Fox Sports Net) will carry all other games live beginning Friday.
