Arkansas Readies For USTA/ITA Regionals
MINNEAPOLIS – After three straight weeks of competition, Arkansas women’s tennis is set to continue its fall slate at the USTA/ITA Central Regional Championships, which will be held Oct. 13-17 at the Baseline Tennis Center on the University of Minnesota campus.
The tournament will feature student-athletes from 26 schools. The quartet of senior co-captain Shannon Hudson, junior Mia Jurasic, sophomore Ana Oparenovic and freshman Natsuho Arakawa will represent the Razorbacks.
Tournament Format
Singles match scoring will be best-out-of three, no-ad scoring with a match tiebreaker if the sets are split. The doubles format will be an eight-game, pro-set with a tiebreak at 7-all until the semifinal. Semifinals and finals will be two sets with a match tiebreak.
Thursday’s action is slated to begin at 8 a.m. CDT with 32 doubles matches. The first round of singles will kick off at approximately 11 a.m. CDT.
Friday will be another 8 a.m. CDT start with 16 doubles matches followed by the second round of singles matches at approximately 10 a.m. CDT. The third round of doubles are set to begin at 3 p.m. CDT.
The doubles round of 16 followed by the doubles quarterfinals and the singles round of 16 will be played on Saturday.
Sunday will feature the doubles semifinal, singles quarterfinal and semifinal. The doubles and singles finals will be played on Monday.
What’s At Stake
The regional singles and doubles champions will earn spots to the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships on Nov. 3-6 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, New York.
