Arkansas Returns to Practice Fields; Hogs Begi

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas Razorbacks returned to the practice fields after taking Friday and Saturday off to begin preparation for Saturday’s nationally televised showdown with the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Arkansas head coach Houston Nutt said the Hogs were ready to return to practice following the off days and the tragic events of the past week.
“It was good to get back out on the practice fields after such an emotional week,” Nutt says. “This was a very different weekend for all of us. Even when we have an open date there are other games being played, but this weekend was an unusual experience for all of us.”
Nutt was pleased with the Razorback’s effort during Sunday’s hour and a half workout.
“Once we got on the field we felt like we got some things accomplished on our game plan for Alabama,” Nutt says. “We worked on Alabama’s option game and tried to prepare for the caliber of defense we will see on Saturday.”
Although the Razorbacks, along with all Division I-A schools, did not play games this weekend, Nutt believes the time off did not hamper the team.
“You always would have liked to have been able to play the games,” Nutt says. “We had a good workout Thursday and we did a good job today of shaking the rust off. We just have to accept the cards we’ve been dealt because everybody is in the same situation after not playing this weekend.”
Arkansas will get back in the swing of its normal game week preparations by taking Monday off. The Hogs will return to practice on Tuesday.
The Razorbacks and Crimson Tide will kickoff at 2:30 p.m. CT from Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa. The game will be nationally televised by CBS.
