Arkansas Set to Take on the Longhorns

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas’ tennis team will take its chances at knocking off Texas when the Longhorns come to town Friday, Jan. 30, to take on the Razorbacks at 5 p.m. at the Dills Indoor Tennis Center.
“After a fine performance in the opener against Nebraska we will have to step it up a notch to play our old Southwest Conference rival, Texas,” head coach Robert Cox said. “Texas brings in a great team with a lot of tennis history. They are a well-coached team with an impressive list of players. We feel that we are ready to play, and hopefully we will come out on top.”
The match features Arkansas, No. 40 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings, and Texas, No. 13 in the nation, in a repeat of last year’s match that Texas pulled out 4-3 win down in Austin. Texas brings a 3-0 record into Fayetteville to face the Razorbacks who are fresh off of their win against Nebraska and stand at 1-0 on the season. The match features four ranked singles players. Arkansas’ Adrians Zguns, No. 14 in the nation, and Nathan Price, No. 50, and Texas’ Jose Zarhi, No. 73, and Pete Stroer, No. 84. Texas also holds two ranked doubles teams, Ryan Hamond and Antonio Ruiz, No. 31 in the nation, and Joe Morris and Hubert Chodkiewicz, No. 44.
Following the Texas match Arkansas will not resume action until Friday, Feb. 13, against DePaul at 6 p.m. when the Razorbacks travel to Chicago. Arkansas will also take on Northwestern on Sunday, Feb. 15, at 1 p.m.
