Lady’Back softball hosts Lady’Back Fall Invitational
Arkansas wraps up the 2007 fall season Saturday at Lady’Back Yard. The Lady Razorbacks welcome Missouri State, Oklahoma State and Rogers State for the one-day tournament.

Arkansas now 8-0
Arkansas defeated Connors, Evangel and Carl Albert in their opening tournament, Northeastern Oklahoma A&M, Texarkana and Tulsa the next weekend and NEO and Crowder this past Sunday. The Lady’Backs ended three of the games in five innings with the run rule.

Lady’Backs’ top offensive threats
Junior Hillary Freeman led Arkansas with a .400 batting average Sunday. She was key in the Lady’Backs 5-1 victory against NEO going 2-for-3 with a double and four RBIs.

Another game-winning hit
In addition to a game-winning hit last weekend against Tulsa, sophomore Sandra Smith laced a solo home run in the fourth inning against Crowder to lift the Lady’Backs over the Lady’Riders 1-0.

Arkansas twirlers shut down opponents
Freshman Kim Jones and senior Katy Henry combined for a shutout in a 1-0 victory against Crowder. Jones threw 6.2 innings for the win and Henry relieved her with runners in scoring position to fan the final batter and earn the save.

McGuirt gets first start and win
Freshman Layne McGuirt got the nod in Arkansas’ 11 a.m. game Sunday and threw six innings allowing one run on five hits and striking out seven for the win.

Henry dominates on the mound
Henry recorded 29 K’s in the first three fall tournaments. Henry’s best performance was 11 K’s versus Evangel. She also has two combined shutouts.

In the circle
The Arkansas pitching staff combined for a 0.50 ERA this past weekend and a 0.56 ERA overall this fall. It also held its opponents to a .191 batting average last Sunday and a .163 batting average overall.
