Arkansas Travels To Athens For Southern Intercollegiate

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The No. 24 Arkansas men’s golf team returns to action on Monday, March 13, traveling to the Southern Intercollegiate at Athens Country Club in Athens, Georgia.

The one day 36-hole event, hosted by the University of Georgia, features 14 teams, including three of those ranked in the latest Golfstat national rankings with Oklahoma (13), Georgia (19) and Arkansas (24) all appearing in the top 25.

The Razorbacks will tee it up for the fourth team during the spring season, going for their third victory of the 2016-17 campaign after capturing the SunTrust Gator Invitational three weeks ago against seven nationally ranked teams. Arkansas holds a 72-28 head-to-head record this year, including a 31-11 mark during the spring season.

Head coach Brad McMakin’s squad is competing in the Southern Intercollegiate for the second straight year after finishing runner-up at the event last season, posting rounds of 279-280 – 559 (-17) to finish just three strokes behind then 2nd-ranked Georgia on its home course.

Coming off a victory at the SunTrust Gator Invitational in his last outing, sophomore Charles Kim returns to the lineup in the No. 2 spot, while Alvaro Ortiz, the team leader in stroke average, will once again lead the team at the No. 1 slot.

Live scoring will be available at Golfstat.com or via the Golfstat Live app.
