UP NEXT FOR ARKANSAS
Arkansas travels to the Mercedes Benz Collegiate Classic Oct. 16-18. The event is the third fall event for Arkansas.
LUCKY NUMBER SIX
For the second tournament in a row, Arkansas gets to travel six student-athletes. One will play as an individual.
This week’s travel party includes Kelli Shean, Kristin Ingram, Katy Nugent, Alex Schulte, Victoria Vela and Corinna Rees. The fifth spot and the individual are still to be determined.
Victoria Vela is scheduled to travel this weekend. She is the first freshman of the 2009-10 team to make the travel squad this year.
MORE ABOUT THE EVENT
This is Arkansas’ eighth trip to the Mercedes. Last year, the Razorbacks were sixth in the 18-team field shooting an 885. Kelli Shean was Arkansas’ top finisher tying for eighth overall with an even-par 216.
This year’s Mercedes Benz Collegiate field includes Arkansas, Florida, Furman, Kent State, Kentucky, Louisville, LSU, North Carolina State, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Ole Miss, UT San Antonio, South Carolina, TCU, Tennessee, UTC, Tulane and Wake Forest.
Fox Den is a par 72, 6,317-yard course in nearby Farragut, Tenn. Fox Den opened in the summer of 1968, and considered one of the toughest courses in the area.
Senior Kelli Shean picked up her first collegiate win two weeks ago at the Marilyn Smith Sunflower Invitational in Manhattan, Kan. Shean shot a personal best seven-under 209 winning by five strokes.
THE REST OF THE SCHEDULE
Time flies. Arkansas has just one fall event remaining. The Razorbacks have another quick turn-around traveling to the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown Oct. 26-28 in the final fall event. The Razorbacks will play Boulder Creek CC in the 16-team event.
