Arkansas continues SEC action at No. 10 Florida Sunday

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The University of Arkansas is looking to return to the win column with a tough challenge at No. 10 Florida Sunday as Southeastern Conference volleyball road action continues. The Lady Razorbacks suffered a 3-2 loss at Georgia Friday falling to 7-9 overall and 5-2 in the league. The Gators enter the match with 15-2 overall record and a 7-0 league mark. “We really want to work on controlling our mental mistakes in this match,” said Arkansas head coach Chris Poole. “We are still so young and we’re making youthful mistakes but we learn with each match. I’m very proud of our defense and the way we’ve been digging and blocking and that’s a great place to build on.” Statistically, the Lady Razorbacks lead the Gators, and the rest of the SEC, in blocking with 172.45 total blocks and a 3.52 block per game average in league matches. Florida, however, is out-hitting Arkansas .263 to .170 and defeated the Lady’Backs in Barnhill Arena earlier this year. Lone senior Jennifer Haaser leads the team averaging 3.05 kills per game this year. The Fort Smith, Ark., native is hitting .238 with 1.42 digs per game and 1.36 blocks per game. Arkansas finishes the weekend with just 13 regular season matches remaining. The Lady’Backs host Kentucky Friday, Oct. 22, then break from SEC action welcoming Valparaiso Sunday, Oct. 24. Arkansas travels to Louisiana State Oct. 26, followed by a home weekend with Alabama, Oct. 29, and Auburn, Oct. 31, as the month winds down.
