Arkansas No. 6 in nation

FAYETTEVILLE– Arkansas’ gymnastics team is ranked sixth in the nation in this week’s GymInfo poll, which was released on Monday.

The Razorbacks, who are home on Friday against No. 11 LSU at 7 p.m. in Barnhill Arena, have been in the top 10 all season.

Coming off the home performance against Auburn on Feb. 5, in which the Razorbacks set a school record with 197.025 points, Arkansas jumped from No. 7 to No. 3 in last week’s poll.

On Friday, Arkansas scored 195.875 points at No. 9 Georgia and is now No. 6 with a score of 196.079. The Razorbacks are just five-hundredths of a point out of the No. 3 position.

The top five includes Alabama, Oklahoma, Oregon State, Florida and Utah.

In the individual events, Arkansas is No. 3 on beam, tied for No. 5 on bars, No. 9 on floor and No. 12 on vault.

In the South Central Regional rankings, Arkansas is No. 2 overall, No. 2 on bars and beam, and No. 3 on floor and vault.

In the individual national rankings, Arkansas and UCLA are the only schools in the nation with three all-arounders ranked among the top 15.

Sophomore Jaime Pisani is No. 8, senior Casey Jo Magee is tied for No. 9 and senior Amy DeFilippo is No. 14.

On vault, Pisani is No. 17 and Magee No. 29. On bars, Magee is tied for No. 14, DeFilippo is No. 27 and Pisani tied for No. 33. On beam, Sarah Nagashima is tied for No. 13, Magee is No. 25 and DeFilippo No. 29. On floor, Pisani is No. 12 and DeFilippo is tied for No. 22.

In the regional rankings, on vault, Pisani is No. 4, Magee tied for No. 5, DeFilippo is No. 9 and Amanda Siebert No. 20. On bars, Magee is No. 3, DeFilippo is No. 4, Pisani is tied for No. 7 and Nagashima is tied for No. 11. On beam, Nagashima is No. 3, Magee No. 7, DeFilippo No. 9, Pisani tied for No. 11 and Stacy Bartlett is No. 13. On floor, Pisani is No. 1, DeFilippo No. 9, Magee No. 11 and Kelci Lewis No. 14.

In the all-around, Pisani is No. 1, Magee No. 2, DeFilippo No. 3, Nagashima No. 6 and Lewis No. 15.

Promotions for this week’s home meet include Tyson Foods as the presenting sponsor, a team photo card giveaway (sponsored by Tyson Foods), NWA Girl Scout Night, Junior Razorback Night, autographs with team members following the meet, a UA student giveaway for a Nintendo Wii with a game package and pre-meet entertainment from the Williams Center Dance Team.
