Arkansas-Ole Miss postponed

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Arkansas men’s basketball game with the Ole Miss Rebels scheduled for Saturday afternoon has been postponed to Sunday evening at 6 p.m. the Southeastern Conference announced on Friday. The Razorbacks and Rebels will face off at C.M. "Tad" Smith Coliseum in Oxford, Miss., and will not be televised due to the postponement.

A winter storm that blanketed Northwest Arkansas with ice on Thursday night and snow on Friday was the main culprit in delaying the contest. A final decision to postpone the game was agreed upon after discussions between the SEC and Arkansas and Ole Miss administrators.

"Obviously, safety is our first priority," Arkansas head coach John Pelphrey said. "I appreciate the efforts of our administration, the Southeastern Conference and the University of Mississippi to help us find a suitable solution to this situation."

The Arkansas-Ole Miss situation is not unique. While it does not happen often, the last SEC men’s basketball game to get postponed is believed to have happened just a few years ago.
