Arkansas Soccer at home to face Alabama & Auburn

Well, after four out of the last five weeks away – it sure is nice to be back home!

We currently are sitting at 9-3-0 and have opened up SEC play at 2-2-0 after beating a very good Ole Miss. side 2-0 and Mississippi State 1-0. This past weekend, we lost 2-1 in double overtime to Georgia and 2-0 to Tennessee. Our team is playing well and is full of confidence!

On the injury side, we have lost Sarah Gwisdala for the year with a torn ACL & MCL. Kelly O’Connor sat our this past weeks games versus Georgia and Tennessee with an ankle injury she picked up against Mississippi State – however we do expect her back in the lineup fo this weekend. A few other niggling injuries – but nothing out of the ordinary for this time of the year. Soccer is a contact sport and injuries are a part of the game at this level.

Two great games on the schedule for this weekend; Alabama & Auburn. The game against Alabama will be televised live on Fox Sports; I believe the soccer channel.

On Friday (7pm) we play Alabama. They are currently sitting at 7-4-1 and is also 2-2-0 is SEC play. This game is a huge one for us both. I am sure the game will be fast flowing with some great attacking soccer from both teams. The game is sponsored by Chick-Fil-A (soft toys) and Grandpa’s oven(Shoot for Dough Contest – $250.00). In addition, we will have an Arkansas Rally towel giveaway and the Jason’s Deli Kids Zone. It also Ozark Cup Night – hopefully will will see many of our youth players in attendance who are here for the tournament. Great chance to see yourselves on television! On Sunday we play an an excellent Auburn side who is 6-5-2 and 2-1-1 in SEC play. Both of our opponents, as well as ourselves are regionally ranked – Auburn is just outside the national top 25. We will be giving away some Arkansas Soccer car decals and the Shoot for Dough contest sponsored by Grandpa’s oven.

Let’s show all those people across America what Arkansas fans are like with a fantastic crowd for both games. These games are huge for us as we try to get back to the Conference tournament in November. Coaches, players and fans all…….. Let’s pack those stands, shake those rally towels and display your Arkansas Soccer Car Decal with pride!

Go Hogs!
