Arnolds Ninth-Inning Triple Gives Arkansas 5-
BY ANDRES FOCIL
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Freshman Clint Arnold tripled home two runs in the top of the ninth inning to give Arkansas a 5-4 win and the program’s first win at Alabama in 10 years on Friday night at Sewell-Thomas Stadium.
Arnold’s triple came on a two ball, two strike pitch and sent chalk flying as it barley caught the right-field foul line, scoring two runs to give the Hogs a 5-4 lead.
“That ball caught the outside of the (foul) line – the far outside of the line,” Arkansas Head Coach Dave Van Horn said. “We were down to our final strike and Clint came through with a big hit.”
It was the first win at Alabama’s Sewell-Thomas Stadium since May 6, 1995, a streak of 12 games. Arkansas has now one three straight overall from the Crimson Tide dating back to last season after having lost 18 of their last 19 to Alabama.
