BA Named Manning QB Of The Week ... Again

NEW ORLEANS – Just days after breaking his own program record and equaling the SEC record with seven touchdown passes against Mississippi State, Arkansas senior quarterback Brandon Allen has been named the Manning Award Quarterback of the Week for the third time this season, announced on Wednesday.

One of eight finalists for the weekly award, Allen received over 1,000 more votes than any of the other candidates in the Facebook poll that determines the winner. All three times Allen has been a finalist this season he’s won the vote.

Allen completed 30-of-43 passes for 406 yards and a school-record seven touchdowns and in the process surpassed Ryan Mallett as Arkansas’ all-time leader in touchdown passes (63). Allen is the first player in SEC history to throw six or more touchdowns in an SEC game twice in a season and just the second to throw seven touchdowns in an SEC game. He is also the first Arkansas quarterback to throw for over 400 yards in a game three times in a season.

The Fayetteville, Ark. product leads the SEC with 29 touchdown passes, including 14 over the last three games which is the most by an Arkansas player over any three-game span. Allen’s 3,023 yards through the air and 65.1 percent completion both rank third in the SEC while ranking fifth nationally passer rating (168.4). A total of 30 FBS quarterbacks have thrown 20 touchdowns this season, while Allen has 19 over five games since the bye week.
