FAYETTEVILLE – Razorback Athletics celebrated the continued construction of the new Baseball and Track Indoor Training Center with a beam signing held at the construction site on Tuesday. The beam was signed by Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Jeff Long, head coaches Dave Van Horn, Lance Harter and Chris Bucknam along with student-athletes from the baseball, men’s and women’s track and field teams, Razorback Foundation members and guests. "We are excited that the Baseball and Track Indoor Training Center is taking shape and will soon be serving more than 150 Razorback student-athletes on an everyday basis," Long says. "This new facility will put us ahead of other programs around the nation and will provide three of our most nationally competitive program what they need to continue to succeed in the SEC and nationally. We are grateful to those who have helped support this important facility and look forward to others stepping up to help make sure it is fully funded." The baseball and track indoor training center is located on the north side of the existing Randal Tyson Track Center. The facility will provide approximately 52,000 square feet of climate-controlled practice space, including a practice infield, throwing area, batting areas and ancillary team spaces. It also would allow all indoor track and field meet throwing events to be held in the facility, including the weight throw which is currently contested inside Walker Pavilion. The baseball and track indoor training facility will serve more than 150 student-athletes annually. Construction of the baseball and track indoor training center is expected to be completed in the summer of 2014.
Jeff Long also announced today that ground breaking for the Basketball Performance Center will be Dececmber 7th, 2013 and ground breaking for the Student-Athlete Success Center will be in early 2014, date still to be determined.
