FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Junior Beau Galyean, an Ardmore, Okla. native was named the Southeastern Conference Golfer of the Week on Thursday after finishing ninth at the Taylor Made Invitational last weekend. Galyean paced the Razorbacks with a score of 217 after shooting rounds of 72, 72 and 73. His third round score of 73 tied for the fourth-lowest total of the day during unfavorable conditions with winds in excess of 25 miles per hour.
“This achievement is a direct result of practice during the winter months and the weeks leading up to this season,” Arkansas head coach Mike Ketcham said. “It is a wonderful honor for Beau to be named the SEC Golfer of the Week. He is beginning to establish himself as a top player in the SEC.”
Galyean’s ninth place finish was a career best and helped lead Arkansas to a third place finish.
He has been Arkansas’ top finisher in four of the five tournaments dating back to the fall. He now leads the team with a 72.7 stroke average.
The Razorbacks compete in the San Antonio Invitational Feb. 24-26 before heading to Los Angeles to compete in the Southwestern Intercollegiate on March 3-5.
