FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Go beyond the box score with notes and analysis from Arkansas’ 97-58 win over Jacksons State in the season opener Friday in Bud Walton Arena. STARS OF THE GAME Calli Berna scored a career best 22 points in the win over JSU. She bettered her previous career high of 13 set in the opener against Minnesota last year. Quistelle Williams also posted a career-best with 17 points bettering the 16 she had against Lamar in the WNIT Tournament two seasons ago. TURNING POINT OF THE GAME Tied at 28 at the 6:02 mark of the first period, Arkansas went on a 6-1 run in just over a minute sprinting out to ta 34-29 lead and forcing a JSU timeout. Arkansas would never be tied or trail again in the game. STAT OF THE GAME 63.6 Percent — that is what Arkansas shot in the second half of the game. The Razorbacks hit 21-33 shots in the final 20 minutes. NOTES * Arkansas is 37-1 in home openers and have won 28 consecutive since the 1983-84 season * Head coach Tom Collen is 311-136 overall in all games in 15 seasons * Collen is the reigning SEC Coach of the Year * Collen is 94-66 in six seasons at Arkansas.
