Bill's Blog: Busy Weekend

This is one of those chock full of action weekends in Fayetteville. Along with the home football against Ole Miss, Razorback basketball gets its first official event of the year at Walton Arena, soccer has its final home match of the year and volleyball hosts a key Western Division match.

This weekend begins at Walton, with the doors opening in just a few minutes for the combined Red-White Game. A great example of the coming together of the departments, this is the first time in recent memory that the two basketball teams have shared the court for a Red-White night.

Both coaches were in Birmingham on Thursday for the annual Southeastern Conference Media Days. John Pelphrey and Tom Collen were each upbeat about their young teams that will be on the court for the first time tonight.

It will be a first for several things at Walton Arena. This is the first time fans will see the new floor, with the Classic Razorback at midcourt, and the first night with the new lower pullout seats.

This season will have plenty of first nights, however, at Walton Arena. The balance of the new media section will be in next week for the exhibition games. A new scorer’s table with LED message center panels is expected to debut with the regular season games. By SEC games, the new ribbon boards on the concourse upper deck.

Tonight, fans can get autographs and meet the new players for both teams from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. on the upper concourse. Make sure to pick up your copy of the men’s and women’s schedule posters.

And, tonight is the first time we will have a combined men’s and women’s basketball production as Mike Nail and Kyle Kellams come together to call the Red-White Game. Mike will serve as Kyle’s color on the first women’s game, then Kyle will be color for Mike on the men’s game to follow. The whole thing streams tonight on RazorVision. Great chance to use your membership.

I’ll point out that we will have men’s basketball games in the streaming package this season during the non-conference season to join the women’s games that went in year’s past. There is also a great chance to save on a season-long package if you have not signed up this year — 20% off until Nov. 15.

Of course, tomorrow night, we will have another PPV for fans with Arkansas-Ole Miss football. Remember, it is pay-per-view (so not part of the RazorVision subscription) and only available in Arkansas and Mississippi due to SEC restrictions.

Until tomorrow night at the football stadium.
