FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Junior Sebastian Cappelen of the University of Arkansas men’s golf team was listed among the top 50 collegiate golfers in the nation by Golf World Magazine in its Sept. 3 issue. The magazine ranked its top 10 players in the nation, and then listed 40 others alphabetically as the “Best of the Rest.” In its comments, Golf World recognized Cappelen’s two years of Palmer Cup service in which he has gone 4-2-2. One of the elder statesmen of the Razorbacks who open the fall ranked No. 8 in Golf World’s team rankings, Cappelen is a two-time honorable mention all-American and All-Central Region selection. His career stroke average of 71.99 over 71 rounds is currently the best in school history as is his low three-round tournament score of 199 which he set at the Border Olympics in 2011. Cappelen ranks No. 11 on Arkansas’ list of all-time top 10 finishes with 10 in his 24 career tournaments. Cappelen and the rest of the Razorbacks begin the 2012-13 season this weekend when they travel to Wayzata, Minn., to play at the Gopher Invitational. Arkansas enters the tournament as the defending champion and should face a tough course and stiff competition at this year’s event.
