FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Senior Ethan Tracy and sophomore Sebastian Cappelen each earned Division I Ping! All-Central Region honors it was announced by the Golf Coaches Association of American on Thursday. The honors are the third all-region selection for Tracy and the second for Cappelen. Tracy earned accolades as a freshman in 2009 and again as a junior in 2011. Cappelen claimed his first honor as a freshman last season. “These are well deserved honors for both Ethan and Sebastian,” Arkansas Head Coach Brad McMakin said. “Both players had tremendous seasons and will be considered for All-America honors.” Tracy capped off a fantastic career at Arkansas with the eighth best career stroke average by an Arkansas player at 73.10. He was an honorable mention Golfweek All-American as a junior, the same season he earned second-team All-SEC recognition. He was named a first-team All-SEC honoree this past season after averaging a team best 71.76 strokes and was one of 25 players placed on the Ben Hogan Award watch list on February. Cappelen’s 2012 season also earned him first-team All-SEC recognition by the league coaches and the Denmark native ranked second on the team with a 72.21 stroke average. He won his second tournament at the Cabo Collegiate in November and was undefeated at the Collegiate Match Play Championship in the spring. Cappelen is also slated to play in the prestigious Palmer Cup for the second straight year this summer, representing Team Europe in the Ryder Cup-style tournament which will be contested in Northern Ireland.
