Captains Lead Offense in Loss at Missouri

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Senior co-captains Danielle Harbin and Breana Jones combined for 23 kills Sunday afternoon in a road loss at Missouri, the second meeting between the two teams in the past nine days. Harbin led all players with 14 kills to go along with eight digs and two blocks. Reagan Robinson, making her second career start, responded with a career-high nine kills in the match.

Harbin has now reached double figures in 13 of 17 matches this season, and is now averaging 4.00 kills per set during her senior campaign. Jones finished the match with nine kills and a .438 hitting percentage. The Peachtree City, Georgia, native hit .519 (16-2-27) in two matches against Missouri this season. Robinson’s nine kills replaced her previous high of seven kills against Kansas State.

Defensively, sophomore libero Okiana Valle registered a match-high 13 digs—eight in the third set—and is now within four digs of moving into the program’s career top 20. Jones and freshman setter Rachel Rippee each had an ace in the match and Rippee now leads the team with 16 service winners.

After dropping the first set, Arkansas (3-14, 1-4 SEC) used a quick three-point push to take a 15-12 advantage at the media timeout. The score was tied at 23-all when Jones found the floor to give the Razorbacks their first of four set points. Overall, the second frame featured 18 ties and six lead changes. Robinson picked up a kill for a 28-27 lead but Missouri (15-3, 6-0 SEC) rattled off four of the last five points to take a 2-0 match lead.

Out of the intermission, the two teams traded points with Arkansas pulling to within one after Barbara Dapic and Ana Sofia Jusino teamed up for a block. However, the home team won 12 of the next 14 points to turn a 7-6 lead into a 19-8 advantage. The Razorbacks saved a pair of match points but Missouri secured the sweep with a block.
