Case Garners USTFCCCA Honors

USTFCCCA Release

NEW ORLEANS – Regional Athletes and Coaches of the Year for the 2018 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field season were announced Friday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), with Arkansas’ Doug Case earning his first nod by the coaches association during an outdoor season as the South Central Men’s Assistant Coach of the Year.

SOUTH CENTRAL REGION – Doug Case – Arkansas
Case, in his 10th year working with Arkansas’ sprints, relays, and hurdles, fielded a group that scored 36-points at the SEC meet. With both relays qualified to the NCAA meet, for the eighth-straight year, along with five individual entries in five events, Case and the Hogs have a lot to look forward to in Eugene. Arkansas has the collegiate-leading 4×100-meter relay (38.59), anchored by Kenzo Cotton who is entered in both the 100-meters and 200-meters at the final site for the third-straight year.

This is the first outdoor USTFCCCA Regional Award for an Arkansas coach since 2009, and the first for Case since his indoor honors in 2011 and 2015.

Each of the nine regions honored both genders’ top track athletes and field athletes, and the top men’s and women’s head coaches and assistant coaches.

Award winners were determined by a vote of USTFCCCA member coaches. Only those individuals from USTFCCCA member programs are eligible for awards.

Arkansas’ 11 entries will take the track at the 2018 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships next week in Eugene, Oregon.
