CNNSI.com predicts breakout season for Mallett

Arkansas quarterback Ryan Mallett was one of 10 players selected by Cory McCartney of CNNSI.com primed to have a breakout season in 2009. In his latest column, McCartney cited Mallett’s arm strength as one of the reasons he among the group of players poised to become college football’s next household names. Last spring, Mallett transferred to Arkansas from Michigan and sat out last season. He never lost a game as the starting quarterback for the Wolverines (3-0, wins vs. Notre Dame, Penn State and Northwestern). He played in 11 games as a true freshman at Michigan in 2007 and completed 61-of-141 passes for 892 yards and seven touchdowns.
