FAYETTEVILLE -University of Arkansas head football coach Bobby Petrino met with the media Monday afternoon to recap his team’s 42-38 Southwest Classic victory over Texas A&M on Saturday and to preview the team’s upcoming home game against No. 15 Auburn.
"I was very proud of our football team," Coach Petrino said about the 18-point comeback victory on Saturday. "Our players just fought extremely hard to find a way to win the game."
The 10th-ranked Razorbacks were rewarded not only with the win, but with quarterback Tyler Wilson and wide receiver Jarius Wright being named SEC Co-Offensive Players of the Week on Monday. It marked the first time in league history that two players from the same team were named Co-Offensive Players of the Week.
"They both had great performances," Coach Petrino said. "It seemed like any crucial play when we called Jarius Wright’s number he made the play. Tyler did an excellent job of getting better as the game went on, standing in there and competing and completing passes."
Although he was pleased with the victory, Coach Petrino commented that the team is already focused on its week six match up.
"It’s easy to get motivated for Auburn," Coach Petrino said. "We always seem to do a good job of getting ready to play those guys and we know it’s a conference game."
Kickoff for Saturday’s game inside Donald W. Reynolds Stadium is set for 6 p.m. The game will air nationally on ESPN.
