FAYETTEVILLE – University of Arkansas women’s basketball coach Tom Collen met with fans and media at his monthly coaches luncheon Monday at the Clarion Inn in Fayetteville.
Collen played to a full room as eager Razorback fans listened to his season preview, met some of the 2010-11 team members and enjoyed lunch.
"We’re going to rise up," Collen told the crowd. "We are going to be more experienced and confident. We’ll be more consistent and our fans are going to like what we do."
Collen talked about the team chemistry and depth he has seen so far and how he knows that will take this team a long way.
"We’re going to have a good year," he said. "This is a cohesive unit that gets along very well. We have more depth and hustle and that makes us better."
Junior Julie Inman was joined by newcomers Erin Gatling, Yashira Delgado and Chrisstasia Walter at the podium Monday. The players introduced themselves and most were asked why they chose Arkansas.
Assistant coach Zenarae Antoine on a recent trip overseas and discussed some of the circumstances of international recruiting.
The Q and A was followed up a drawing for prizes. Today’s luncheon was the first of five scheduled this year. Arkansas returns to the court for the season opener Friday hosting Florida A&M at 11:30 a.m. in Bud Walton Arena.
