Collen, Razorbacks ready for Red-White

FAYETTEVILLE – The University of Arkansas women’s basketball team takes the floor on Friday night at Bud Walton Arena for the annual Red-White scrimmages beginning at 7:15 p.m. Both the men’s and women’s Red-White games are free to the public and doors will open at 6:30 p.m.

"The Red-White game has become a great tradition at Arkansas," Arkansas head coach Tom Collen said. "It is a great opportunity for fans to get an up-close look at the new team and for players, veterans and newcomers alike, to put on the Razorback uniform. It signals the start of the season."

Razorback fans can enjoy an entire weekend of festivities as Friday evening starts with Rockin’ with the Razorbacks at the Northwest Arkansas Mall and continues at the Red-White games. Saturday is the Razorback football game with Ole Miss and the women’s tennis team will be hosting the USTA/ITA Central Region Championship all weekend.

Action at Bud Walton is scheduled to begin at 7:15 p.m. when the Razorback women take the court for their warm up. The women’s game is slated for a 7:37 p.m. tip and will be followed by Collen sharing his thoughts on the 2010-11 squad to the crowd. Following the women’s game, there will be a hot spot competition featuring players of the men’s and women’s basketball programs and intramural contestants which lead into the men’s basketball warm up at 8:25 p.m. and Red-White tipoff at 8:47 p.m. Razorback head men’s basketball coach John Pelphrey will give his comments to the crowd at the conclusion of the men’s game.
