Community Rockin' with the Razorbacks

FAYETTEVILLE – Arkansas head men’s basketball coach John Pelphrey, voice of the Razorbacks Chuck Barrett, dozens of Razorback student-athletes and members of the Razorback Band and spirit squads were on hand Friday night at the Northwest Arkansas Mall for the second annual Rockin’ with the Razorbacks.The family-focused event helps celebrate the partnership between the Razorbacks and the fans and communities of Northwest Arkansas. "The Razorbacks are an integral part of the identity of Northwest Arkansas and the entire state," Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Jeff Long said. "The tremendous support from Razorback fans and businesses in local communities assists us in achieving our primary mission, the development of more than 460 Razorback student-athletes academically, athletically and socially. We appreciate the Fayetteville Chamber of Commerce for their active role in Rockin’ with the Razorbacks and for their continued support of our program." This year’s event featured a pep rally emceed by Barrett with a special message from Pelphrey. Following the pep rally, student-athletes from the Razorbacks women’s golf, women’s tennis, men’s golf, gymnastics, women’s cross country and track and field, men’s tennis and baseball teams were on hand to sign autographs. In addition, Miss University of Arkansas Kimberly Smith was in attendance to sign autographs and pose with fans for pictures. Complimentary refreshments were also provided to fans during the event.
