“I am humbled and honored to accept the privilege of doing the radio play by play for what we all hope is a very successful 2006 football season.
“I am thankful to Coach Broyles and the athletic department administration, Dale Nicholson, Mark Rose, Todd Curtis and the Arkansas Razorback Sports Network, and to many others for their confidence, trust and encouragement during what is a difficult time for all of us.
“Paul Eells can never be replaced. Reality is however, we move forward. I know when I step into that broadcast booth on Sept. 2, I will feel as if I have invaded hallowed space. But, I will do my very best to present a fair, accurate and exciting broadcast for the deserving Razorback fans.
“This is an emotional and challenging time for me personally and professionally. I am going to focus all my time and energy in the brief time remaining toward preparing for that opening kickoff. Therefore, I hope you will understand my decision to make no further comment until after the victory over Southern California on Sept. 2.”
