Construction Impacts Athletic Event Parking

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — As the University of Arkansas continues to expand facilities to meet the changing needs of the campus community, Razorback fans should take note of the impact of several construction related projects near Bud Walton Arena in the next few weeks. Beginning this week, work will begin on the south side of Bud Walton Arena with closure of Leroy Pond Drive for drive through traffic. Anyone needing to access east (Clinton Dr. or west (Razorback Rd.) roads off Leroy Pond Drive will need an alternate route during this time of construction. Along with the closure of Leroy Pond Drive to through traffic, parking lots Lot 62, 56C, 56D (all south of Bud Walton Arena) and Lot 55 (north of Bud Walton Arena) for Razorback Athletic events will also be affected with this same project beginning this week and running into the first week of January. Construction is related to the Leroy Pond Utility Plant Project under the direction of CDI Contractors, LLC, and the construction of the Razorbacks’ new Basketball Performance Center. The Leroy Pond Utility Plant will provide up to 4000 tons of additional cooling capacity and support planned growth in the Athletic Valley district of the campus. New chilled and heating hot water distribution infrastructure will connect the new plant to the district utility loop while improving the reliability and efficiency of the entire campus utility system. The 66,000-square foot Basketball Performance Center is scheduled to open as the Home of Razorback Basketball in the summer of 2015. The Basketball Performance Center will house all operational components for the men’s and women’s basketball teams including: two full-court gymnasiums, men’s and women’s locker rooms, a weight room, an athletic training room, coaches’ offices, team meeting rooms, student-athlete lounge and study areas and an equipment room. Fans that have parking passes in the lots impacted by the construction projects will be contacted by the Razorback Foundation with additional parking options as the projects progress. Fans should also allow for extra time getting to men’s and women’s basketball games as delays may occur due to the need for alternate routes. Fans can log on to for further parking updates as well as maps and illustrations showing the impacted parking lots. For more information on Arkansas Athletics, follow @ArkRazorbacks on Twitter.
