Cornett named to SEC Good Works Team

FAYETTEVILLE– Senior Melissa Cornett was named to the 2006 Southeastern Conference Good Works by the conference office in Birmingham, Ala.

The SEC Good Works Team is sponsored in all 20 sports. The Good Works Team looks to highlight athletes from the SEC who gives back to their community in superior service efforts.Cornett marks the fourth Lady Razorback senior in a row to be named to the Good Works team.

“Being named to SEC Good Works indefinitely an honor,” said Cornet. “It marks one of the many highlights of my senior year.”

Cornett was named to the team for her accomplishments off the court in addition to her senior leadership. She has volunteered, along with the rest of the team, with Habitat for Humanity. Cornett is also a volunteers with Arkansas Athletes Outreach and with Alpha Epsilon Delta. She has also worked with Razorbacks for XMAS and with Children’s House.

“It has been a real honor to have Melissa on this team,” said head coach Michael Hegarty. “Her enthusiasm and willingness to help those in need is unsurpassed.”

The Little Rock native is one of two native Arkansans on this year’s squad. Of the 2006 seniors, Cornett is the only four-year Arkansas letterwinner. In the 2005-06 tennis season, she went an even 16-16 in singles, with a 17-15 record in doubles.
