Cotton Completes SEC Scholastic Sweep

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Southeastern Conference has selected Arkansas junior Kenzo Cotton as the Co-Scholar Athlete of the year, announced Wednesday afternoon by the league office.

The SEC previously recognized Cotton as the top scholar-athlete during the indoor season. Cotton shares the outdoor award with Ole Miss middle distance runner Craig Engels. Cotton is the fifth Razorback to win the award and the only Hog to sweep both indoor and outdoor scholar-athlete honors.

A 12-time All-American on the track Cotton has contributed to the Arkansas men’s track and field team at the conference and national levels since his freshman campaign in 2015. Cotton scored seven points towards the Razorbacks’ runner-up finish at the SEC Outdoor Championships, placing second with the 4-x-100-meter relay and fourth in the 100. Most recently, Cotton booked his trip to the NCAA outdoor championships in three events, following an exceptional weekend, which saw him finish among top-12 of the NCAA West in the 100, 200 and 4-x-100.

The La Vista, Nebraska native holds a 3.62 grade point average in kinesiology. He will next compete at the 2017 NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene Oregon on June 7-10 at Hayward Field.
