Craig Lile Wins Second Collegiate Title; Hogs

    SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Coming from a five-stroke deficit, junior Craig Lile fired a 68 in the final round of the University of Texas-San Antonio Invitational Tuesday afternoon to claim his second collegiate victory this season.
    Going into the final round, Lile was in fourth place behind Brandon Sanders of Baylor by four strokes. Sanders shot a 75 in the final round to place second.
    Lile finished the tournament shooting a 4-under-par 209, his second lowest 54-hole score. Lile was one of two players to have a round in the 60s on the day. The other 60 round was by teammate Beau Galyean.
    Lile’s first victory was Oct. 16, 1999 at the Lexus Intercollegiate in Fresno, Calif. He shot a 12-under-par 204 to claim top honors.
    Arkansas’ fifth place finish is the second consecutive time the Hogs have reached the top 10. Carding a 24-over-par 876 for the three rounds, the Hogs defeated 13 other teams in the field.
    Coming off his second-best finish of the season is freshman Beau Galyean. Galyean was in a tie for 43rd after the first round and capitalized on a 2-under-par 69 on the final round to finish 21st. His 54-hole score of 220 (+7) is the lowest of his career.
    Freshman Jay Houk, who was in a tie at 35th after the first day, finished the day with a 1-over-par 72 to move up nine spots to tie at 24th. Houk shot an 8-over-par 221, tying his collegiate lowest score.
    Moving up six spots on the final day was freshman Drew Higginbotham. He carded a 14-over-par 227 to place in a tie for 46th. After the first two rounds, Higginbotham was tied at 53rd.
    Improving five strokes from the second round, sophomore Chris Speight shot a 77 (+6) on the final day to place in a tie for 77th.
    The Hogs will play in Lafayette, La. at the USL Cajun Classic March 13-14. They will be playing at Oakbourne Country Club.
