Cross Country Guide Named Tops in the Nation

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The 2007 University of Arkansas Lady Razorback Cross Country Media Guide was recently named the best guide in the country by the College Sports Information Directors of America’s (CoSIDA) publication contest committee.

The annual book detailing the 2007 cross country season was written, designed and typeset by Assistant Communications Director Phil Pierce with editorial assistance from Dr. Bill Smith. The title of the 2007 book was “Postcards of Success” and showcased team photos from each of Arkansas’ 2006 team championships.

“Once again we are very proud of our media guide,” Arkansas head cross country coach Lance Harter said. “We have been very fortunate to have a quality publication to go along with a top-notch team over the years. It is an honor to distribute this book to prospective student-athletes as it is a clear representation of our commitment not only to athletics, but to academics and the community.”

The top billing for the cross country media guide is not the first in Arkansas history. In fact it is the eighth time that it has taken the contest’s top honor. The book has also been awarded five second and four third in the nation designations over the years. In 2003 the guide took its first and only best cover honor while also snaring one of its second in the nation awards.

The 2007 media guide finished ahead of the Michigan women, Tennessee women and Oklahoma State women for the top award. Michigan took the nation’s best cover. Arkansas’ book took top honors on the strength of its overall presentation. None of the three judges in the contest rated the book below 90% of the total points allowed with one judge even giving the book 93.3% of the points.
