Darren McFadden Undergoes Arthroscopic Knee Surgery

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas freshman tailback Darren McFadden underwent arthroscopic knee surgery on Wednesday to repair torn cartilage in his left knee. McFadden initially sustained a small cartilage tear in the knee during preseason drills last August.

Arkansas Head Trainer Dean Weber expects McFadden to be sidelined from four to six weeks before returning to the Razorbacks’ off-season conditioning program.

The North Little Rock, Ark., native has already earned freshman All-America honors from Rivals.com and ESPN.com after becoming the first Razorback freshman and only the seventh freshman in Southeastern Conference history to rush for 1,000 yards. McFadden set school records for rushing yards (1,113), 100-yard rushing games (5) and touchdowns by a freshman (11). He currently ranks fourth in the SEC and 32nd in the nation with an average of 101.2 rushing yards per game.
