Diamond Hogs Wrap Up Four-Game Road Trip at Centenary

No. 9 Arkansas completes a four-game road trip on Wednesday at Sheehee Stadium in Shreveport, La., with a 2 p.m. contest with the Centenary Gents.

The Razorbacks (16-6, 2-1 SEC) are coming off of a series win at No. 12 Kentucky this past weekend in the Southeastern Conference opener. Arkansas is averaging 8.8 runs per game and has lowered the team ERA to 3.85 while striking out an average of 8.86 batters per nine innings.

The Gents (10-15) were roughed up in a two-game series at Arkansas-Little Rock this past weekend, dropping a 15-10 game on Saturday and a 15-0 contest on Sunday. Centenary is coached by ninth-year skipper Ed McCann and is hitting .273 and scoring 5.3 runs per game with a 4.58 earned run average.

Arkansas leads the all-time series between the two clubs 28-6 dating back to the 1960 season. The Hogs have reeled off 23 straight wins in the series and have not lost to the Gentlemen since the 1965 season. UA has an 11-3 mark in Shreveport against the Gents while Dave Van Horn boasts a 7-0 record during his tenure with the Hogs.

The Razorbacks will start true freshman Dallas Keuchel. He is making his first start since the Illinois State series in February. Keuchel made two appearances out of the bullpen last week, working five-scoreless innings with seven strikeouts and just one walk. He is 2-1 with a 3.55 ERA and a save this season while striking out 25 and walking just seven.

Centenary saved its ace Brandon Fulenchek for the Razorbacks. Fulenchek is 4-2 on the year with a 2.05 ERA in 44 innings of work. He has struck out 19 and walked 16 with a .284 opponent batting average. Fulenchek pitched against the Hogs last season in Fayetteville, taking the loss after allowing five runs on five hits in three innings of work. Calvin Sanchez leads the Gents at the plate with a .329 batting average and one if their two home runs this season.
