Doubles Duo Advances On Day 1

PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. — Arkansas’ doubles duo of senior Mia Jurasic and junior Ana Oparenovic highlighted the Razorbacks’ first day of competition Saturday at the 2017 Riviera/ITA Women’s All-American Championships at Pepperdine University with a win in the first round of the pre-qualifying doubles draw.

“Today was a solid day all around,” head coach Michael Hegarty said. “Every point was beneficial for us and we saw some quality play from all three players.”

Jurasic and Oparenovic defeated Louisiana Monroe’s Stefana Andrei and Karolina Snita, 8-3, to advance to Sunday’s semifinals.

In singles, Jurasic and sophomore No. 100 Giulia Pairone were defeated 7-6, 6-2 and 7-5, 2-6, 6-2, respectively, in the first round of the pre-qualifying singles draw.

Senior No. 62 Léolia Jeanjean and No. 36 Oparenovic will each compete in the qualifying singles draw Oct. 3-4, while Pairone and Jeanjean are set to play in the main doubles draw Oct. 5-8.
