Eatman coaches Senior Team

FAYETTEVILLE – University of Arkansas Associate Head Women’s Basketball Coach Timothy Eatman has been selected as the head coach for the 2010 Senior Women’s Team by the Jamaica Basketball Association it was recently announced.

Eatman is beginning his fourth season at Arkansas after joining the Razorbacks along with head coach Tom Collen.

Eatman and the team begin a two-month sprint beginning with the national training session in New York City, N.Y., June 26-July 7. The team travels to Mayaguez, Puerto Rico for the Centrobasket Championship, a pre-qualifier for the 2012 World Olympic Games, July 10-14.

Next, Eatman and the team take part in the Central American and Caribbean Games July 17-24, also in Puerto Rico.

The Jamaica Senior Women’s team took a four-year break from international tournaments but remains ranked by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) as one of the top 50 women’s teams in the world. They are 11th among Caribbean/Latin American and North, Central and South American countries.

The team is led by Simone Ewards who recently retired from her professional career with the WNBA’s Seattle Storm. She, along with teammate Nicole Louden, placed the Jamaican team to a third-place finish at the 2006 Centrobasket Championship in Mexico City, Mexico.
