Edina Brooks joins women?s track

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas Razorback women’s track and field head coach Lance Harter has announced the addition of another a sprinter for the 2009-10 season, it was released Tuesday.

Edina Brooks, a native of Spring, Texas, will join the Razorback roster in the fall. Currently attending South Plains College in Levelland, Texas, Brooks is a graduate of Klein High School in Klein, Texas.

While competing for South Plains College, Brooks was a four-time All-American in the 400 meters, 4×100- and 4×00-meter relays. She was also a member of the quartet that set the school record in the indoor (3:43.35) and outdoor (3:41.37) 4×400-meter relays. She holds personal bests of 24.57 in the 200 meters and 55.07 in the 400 meters.

Brooks was also a member of the 2009 NJCAA Indoor Championship team and earned a NJCAA runner-up finish in the 400 meters with a time of 55.57.

Brooks joins Alyssa Allison (Festus, Mo.), Stephanie Brown (Downs, Ill.), Paige Johnston (Midlothian, Va.) and Keri Wood (College Station, Texas) who have all committed to Arkansas for 2009-10.
